The Acid Queen

I’m just a girl who sees hockey as a part of my path toward spiritual fulfillment, and occasionally my posts will reflect that. I’ve been a fan of the sport ever since the Miracle on Ice, when I heard Al Michaels shout “DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?!”

I grew up in North Dakota as a fan of the Edmonton Oilers (the first NHL team I ever saw play), and after a long and tortuous route I’m now a fan of the Carolina Hurricanes (whose previous incarnation was the one that I always had the most hockey cards and stickers for–maybe it was a sign of things to come?)

I tend to stick with Hurricanes’ history (and commentary on same), the fan experience, my personal experiences, and little bits and pieces of hockey news and Hurricanes esoterica, because that is what I like to write about. I also hate the Red Wings like a Yankees fan hates the Red Sox–and by “hate” I mean “am driven into a homicidal rage by”. It’s been a constant thing for me, ever since I was 10. I’ve never liked them, so don’t go throwing 2002 at me.

I also like to drop lots of movie quotes, historical and mythological references, art history references, TV show references, geekisms, and the occasional role-playing or video game quote/screenshot/references. Why? Because I’m a geek, a gamer, a very amateur cook, and a bookworm. I have links in the link list to places like The Jargon File, the Internet Movie Database, and a few other sites that may help the average reader understand the blog.

This is the closest we will ever get to a disclaimer statement

We take no prisoners and gleefully grill up sacred cows in this blog. If you can’t deal with snark and the occasional bits of salty language, if you can’t hang with occasional girly talk from AQ or guy talk from DaveG, and if you especially can’t wrap your brain around dry humor or the concepts of absurdity, hyperbole, and badly-executed satire, then this is not the blog for you.
