acidqueen, FLA definitely did not roll over for the Caps tonight, sorry to say. In fact, they outplayed the Caps for stretches of the first and second periods, and overall it was a pretty even game. FLA hit at least two posts/crossbars when the game was still anybody's to win. Huet was the difference tonight, as he has been for most of the last month. Period.

You said it yourself in a recent post(albeit in reference to the league and the refs--and thanks for disabusing sundry Canes fans of the silly notion): there really isn't any collusion or conspiracy. Especially among the players themselves.

Oh, I know--I watched that Series and was cheering for the Sox because I didn't want my Dodgers' NL rivals to win--but that grounder was considered the backbreaker for the series.

It's about the same thing, though. Something so deceptively simple--just win a winnable game--wound up being an instrument of doom.

You know, Buckner booted the ball in game 6, not game 7. While Buckner is considered the goat for the series, the BoSox did have a chance to win game 7.

Disclaimer: I grew up a Cubs fan, rooting for Buckner at 1st base.
