WoW expansion

New World of Warcraft expansion: Wrath of the Lich King

Release date unannounced. New features like Level 80 (Woohoo, more grinding!), siege warfare (battlegrounds will never be the same again), NEW CHARACTER DANCES (YES!  I no longer have to watch my hunter dance like the French Britney Spears!), new dungeons to explore, and we’ll finally get to see the icy continent of Northrend (home of Arthas the Lich King).  I’m such a tourist, I totally geeked out on the idea of new areas to explore. I mean, I’m the person who went along on a Molten Core raid with NO fire resistance AT ALL…just because I wanted to see what it looked like. I’m also the person who tried to get some of her guildies to form a raid group JUST so I could get into Magtheridon’s Lair solo to check it out for myself. And yes, I died horribly both times. I also took advantage of a couple of environmental glitches to get into Hyjal to see where Archimonde bought it in Warcraft III–and got tut-tutted by a GM, who jokingly offered to teleport me into the middle of Blackwing Lair so I could satisfy my curiosity (I think that GM wound up getting fired by Blizzard for actually having a mind of his own and saying something other than “Works as intended, thank you for playing World of Warcraft!”)

Yes, I’m a geek and damn proud of it. I haven’t been this excited about something since Command and Conquer 3 came out (KANE LIVES)!

Off to level my Draenei shammy. See ya on Azeroth!

I meant to say something to you yesterday. Hub the Grand WoWMaster was going monkey-f-nuts over the announcement of the expansion. Wondered if you had seen it too.

    but of course you had!

  2. acidqueen says:

Oh yeah! Saw it as soon as the launcher came up for me yesterday evening. :D What server is he on again? I keep forgetting, and you’ve told me like three times or so I think.

Finally, some enthusiasm. A lot of other people I talked to are all “FTS, now what’s the point in raiding if it’s all gonna be obsolete again soon?” Because it’s a game, and you play the fucking game because it’s fun? Challenge, tourism, camaraderie*, whatever? I didn’t realize this was a competition to see how much “phat lewtz” you could get, or some other asinine measure of your epeen (has that become a standard term now?). DIAF, jerks, I’m going back to Karazhan.

I know what you mean about the Hunter. Mine’s a Nelf female, too, and I don’t dance because I always get uncomfortable. I mean, it’s a video game chracter. The Human male dance (on my main, a Warrior), though, is just goofy.

    * – It looks wrong, but spellcheck says it actually looks nothing like “comrade,” so I’m gonna go with it.

    Heh; camaraderie is spelled right.

But yeah. I once got blasted on the WoW livejournal community because I had the bollocks to say that I see WoW as a fun game to play, and loot doesn’t matter that much to me.

It really pissed this guy off when he said “I’m going to join your Molten Core group and ninja everything that you roll on, and then disenchant it right in front of you” and my response was “…and by the time you’re done standing there wanking your tiny little e-peen and showing what a childish little drama queen you are, I’ll have left the group and gone to do something that’s actually fun for me.”

I know. I mean, what drives people to be such dickfaces over a bunch of 1′s and 0′s? I mean, sure, I get excited when a boss drops something I can use, because that makes me more helpful to the group, and when the group wins, I win. Will I pitch a shit fit if he doesn’t? No, I congratulate my guildies and move on, because they also benefit the group as a whole when they get something shiny, and again, when the group wins, I win. Plus hearing my best friend get all excited over her shoulders dropping is fun in and of itself.

I say, if you can’t enjoy the journey, why bother going? Yeah, I could be in Serpentshrine Cavern right now getting phatter lewtz, but I’d rather be playing with my friends, if it’s all the same to the rest of the Warcraft community. Our guild doesn’t have time for douchebags, and if we never get past Kara, I’ll still be there, because fun > loot. Period.
