From the website it looks like there are tons of Carolina fans. Check out the Stanleys Angels guys and from what I hear there are tons more in the film. Don't know about the booster club guy but I'm ordering the film cause I saw them filming during the win.

Yes I have. I also know more than a few of the 'Canes fans they showed in that movie (one of whom is the President of the Hurricanes Booster Club).

Well, considering how much ill will has been thrown Sabres fans’ way all season

The Sabres fans that came to the RBC have the ignominious distinction of being the only visiting fans that forced the Raleigh PD to recall every available officer to man a temporary substation set up in the RBC lot for the duration of the Conference Finals.

And, sadly, a lot more has been said in public about how "great" crap like that was than how assy and criminal it was--so even though I don't care for (and disavow) the handful of 'Canes fans that go into Sabrespace and lower themselves to being just like the assclowns they're reviling, I can't say I blame the folks that vent about it in Canespace where Sabres fans have the option to not read it.

I'm willing to entertain the delusion that the bulk of Sabres Nation is a lot more like Tom Luongo and a lot less like the retard from Erie County Medical Center that loves to try posting garbage in this commentbox on a regular basis, but it's really hard when I think about all the garbage that I and everyone else here in the Triangle had to put up with from the more vocal and aggressive Sabres fans ever since last May.

I found a link to this through another site and I can't express enough the class you're showing right now.

I have the unique experience of being a Sabres fan and dating (yes, dating) a Canes fan.

For all the things that happened last playoffs, not once did I utter a word that would be construed as not losing with dignity. Yes, it was hard to be happy for her when the Canes won it all and I was mighty jealous, but I understood that someday (hopefully) that I'll be on the other side of the situation, and I wouldn't want legions of fans calling my team "lucky" or "undeserving" or ripping on my fanbase.

There's always going to be the bandwagon fans and it's sad that everyone's going to point out that last season was a fluke and all the bandwagoners are going to get off while they still can. Because I know that there are a lot of true Canes fans out there who ARENT invisible right now, and are looking forward to next season.

For that, AQ, I salute you. Don't let the detractors get you down, because you have a Cup. Whether it was fluky, lucky, undeserving or not, in the end, the Canes won the Cup and get to have that moment forever. Don't let anything take that away.

And I hope the Sabres get to experience that this season. :)

Well, considering how much ill will has been thrown Sabres fans' way all season, please excuse me if I don't act as gracious as I ought to. Getting called dirty white trash on countless blogs, at road arenas - even if some Sabres fans are classless on the road - does a lot to shake a man's sense of comraderie throughout the NHL fanbase. Hearing that from Canes fans, who - with the exception of some - are practically invisible at this point, encoruages a significant amount of spite in my celebration.

There is always next year, no matter what happens, and this season has been something magical from day one.

Even the Sabres fans?

Hey - I resemble that remark!

Seriously, excellent post! I guess it's always good to stay grounded, although not near as much fun as boundless euphoria!

I think you've perfectly captured the ideal of the cup-nice job. Better luck next year.
