Buffalo was a pretty damn scary place to be this weekend I guess.
The first time I leave the city in 20 years and it's a freaking state of emergency.
FEMA, Red Cross, National Guard, driving bans, etc, but as of right now it looks like everyone is going to be ok, and the community really pulled together.
Even Ken Hitchcock was pleasent to Ruff, so you know it must have been bad..

Looks like we will see some line changes tonight vs the Thrash. However, I compare fixing the Canes to putting a queen size fitted sheet on a king sized bed. Every corner represents a problem, so as soon as you address one corner then another one pops up. The defense is weak, so the forwards play a little further back. The goalies have a few more shots to contend with. Opponents score a few more goals. Confidence gets shattered. Rinse, repeat.

Winning is the universal salve here. I predict that the first win will be the toughest, but after that things should return to something resembling "normal".

I just hope that the Canes aren't thinking that Kaberle and Stillman returning will fix all of their problems. I suggest energizing the defense with some solidarity. Not knowing who your blue line mate will be can't help. Once the D strengthens, the forwards skate up a little more, things open up for everyone.

They need to SKATE, man! Hustle! In the Florida game they did pretty well staying out of the penalty box. They need to keep that up AND skate better.

Coach Lavi may need to do some more team-building stuff with them as this is not the same lineup as last year. Maybe a little more bonding time will help them find their feet again.

I've noticed in the news quotes that Capt. Rod seems to be taking all this in stride. Is he going soft now that he's got a Cup or is he just pacing himself, knowing it's still early in the season?

I wish more of the games were televised so I could actually SEE the new dudes play.
