Gotta love those Devils fans.

Not.

Apparently some fool from a Devils fanboard took exception with this post here, and broadcast it on his message board for the rest of his little buddies to read.

One problem: he linked to the OLD blog, and I only noticed because somebody was “kind” enough to e-maul me and let me know “hey, you got linked from $board.”

Some of the comments are quite amusing (and, of course, only served to reinforce what I already knew about the fans on that particular board: that they’re a bunch of microcranial lowlifes).

all that southern slurs and babble gave me a headache in that article. What a dumb bitch. (You shouldn’t talk about your mother that way.)

“3 cups uh duh? what have you done us lately?”

What did they ever do before last year? uh duh…Not a damn thing. (Except smack your bitch asses out of the playoffs twice in a row.)

That Bitch needs a good smacking. (Come get some, punk)

Fuck those assholes, those rubes discovered hockey in 2006 and all of a sudden they bleed Canes Red and White. Wait until Carolina has another losing season so they can draw 7,000 a game again like they used to, fuck those clownshoes. (FYI kid, I’ve been a hockey fan for longer than you’ve been alive–and I’ve stuck with the Hurricanes through the down years too.)

(guess I shouldn’t tell that guy that the Devils don’t draw so hot either, huh?)

I just find it amusing, really.

The Canes only draw 1,000 more people a game and currently rank 21st in the NHL in attendance TWENTY FIRST, you dont sell out any regular season games. BTW are all female Canes fans 400 pounds? By the looks of what I saw at CAA I would have to say yes. Win two more cups then talk.

  2. 2 Hey guys im from Carolina and all of a sudden I like hockey for some odd reason. Sep 8th, 2006 at 3:01 pm

The Canes had seasons where they drew 10,000 on average, 12,000 on average etc etc. I thought only Rangers and Flyers fans bragged about attendance.

Please forgive the boorish Devils fans. Speaking as a former citizen of New Jersey (and still somewhat of a Devils fan when I’m not tracking the Blue Jackets), I know all too well about the bad behavior that certain Devils followers can spew out from their blowholes.

It’s sort of pathetic and ironic that they’d resort to criticizing ‘Canes fans for only bleeding red and white now, isn’t it? Considering that they couldn’t even sell out the playoff games that didn’t involve the New York Rangers, huh?

Please excuse Michael Turner, for he has recently contracted HIV from a young haitian boy. Again, the Canes only average 1,000 more fans a game in a newer arena in a better location. Youre not hockey town yet Carolina.

We still get more fans per game than the Devils do.

Come back when you can come up with something more original than “Durrrr, we have more Cups than you!”

You make me sad, Anonymous O&A website-using person. Only because Opie & Anthony would’ve come up with something wittier besides “LAWLZ AIDS!!1″ Don’t go sullying the O&A name by using their website when you don’t have half the funny that they have.

  7. 7 3 cups always beat 1! Sep 8th, 2006 at 11:53 pm

Come back when we have something more original? 3 cups beats 1. Its that simple. So you had a flukey miracle run. Its all over. Enjoy your 15 minutes because its over with. You win one cup and suddenly everyone in Carolina knows hockey. What a joke. So when the next nascar race?

  8. 8 Three times the championships Sep 9th, 2006 at 3:08 am

I didnt say “LAWLZ AIDS” I said you have HIV. O&A hate the south, its true. Canes miss the playoffs next year, much like how many southerners will miss their next dental appt next year as well. But hey come on, the Canes are an attendance powerhouse, I mean that extra 800 people a game in a newer arena warrants such smugness. 06 is over, the dream ends in a few weeks.

Thanks for proving the single-digit IQ of the “real” Devils fans.

Time to require registrations, I see.

Edmonton has five Cups to Calgary’s one. Sadly, that argument died when both teams went in the shitter fifteen years ago. Similarly, the Cups argument has already lost pretty much all its meaning, and notice how well Jersey’s done in the playoffs lately?

When you win without the Scotts and Marty keeping anyone from scoring, ever, give the rest of the hockey world a ring.

God damn, what am I doing, sticking up for the ‘Canes? Have I lost my Oiler-loving mind, or are these people really that fucking stupid?

  12. 12 mntineer Sep 9th, 2006 at 8:48 pm

So when the next nascar race?

Frickin’ amateur. So when is the next sold-out hockey game in N’Joisey? The next blue moon? Fine that you talk about attendance, especially when N’Joisey fans can’t seem to drag their hindquarters to sell out their games during the playoffs. And the Devils won three cups? What lousey fans.

At least the ‘Canes fans turn out during the finals, which is much more than can be said about the Devils fans.

I know this is completely off track and there are better things discussed. But, I don’t get it. What’s so funny about HIV?

  14. 14 zanstorm Sep 10th, 2006 at 10:27 pm

Yeah, Queen, these guys remind me of the punks on on the Maple Leaf boards, and the Canuck boards (I don’t read others)
Oh well, you’ve exposed them haven’t you? Nice work!

This pretty much describes most users who frequent message boards. If you want intelligent hockey talk, don’t hang around with 15 year-old feebs with a keyboard. That’s why I, and many others, turned to blogging.

  16. 16 DrFrankLives Sep 12th, 2006 at 10:21 am

Jes - that might be why YOU turned to blogging. personally, I did it so I could pretend others read my stuff.

    It’s quite fun, actually.

(Reminder to self: get life soon)

Oh, and here is where I face a Devils fan, grab myself, hold up my Stanley Cup Champions T-Shirt and yell “SUCK ON BOTH OF THESE!”

You know, if I felt like getting down to their level, which I don’t.

Exactly, Jes. As a Devils fan who began as a Rockies fan, whose favourite player of all time is Ron Francis, please don’t paint us all with the same brush, anymore than you would appreciate being lumped together with the idiots in your crowd (you know you’ve got some, we ALL do). I know of this CaptainLou, and frequent a message board where the beach ball discussion took place. Please, we’re not all the same.

  18. 18 acidqueen Sep 12th, 2006 at 7:29 pm

please don’t paint us all with the same brush

Then how ’bout you tell your buddies on that board to stop painting all of us with the same brush? Just sayin’.
