Just stumbled on and loved your comment on Malik’s goal…

One comment about the physics analogy though…while not practicle it could be possible to move away from the islands while running aboard your ship…you’d just have to be doing it at a great velocity than the ship’s toward the islands.

I really hope the NHL doesn’t need (or wants)to bring in a bunch of gyroscopes and place them on players, sticks and pucks to start tracking velocity, vectors and angles though. It might be nit-picky of me to bring this up…but heh, I am what I am…Keep up the good work!

Hrudey should be fined for bringing up the word “serenity” in a broadcast for starters!

I remember Hrudey playing for the LA “silver and black” Kings. He was the only goaltender to wear this hybrid european/n. american hockey mask in goal. I even remember him wearing this headband that had the extra cloth hanging out the back.

You just don’t see that anymore!

You are both correct! Mind you, upon further review my physics analogy is a bit rough around the edges (and I can post a completely new entry to expound upon it if somebody really wants), but it still fits.

Well stated…and if we were to actually listen to that “argument” of the puck being kept in forward motion, we’d have to ban every fake-drag-shoot penalty shot ever since if you use Hrudey’s approach, technically the puck is being dragged more away from the net for a split second than towards the net. That’s a lot of Mario Lemieux penalty shots that wouldn’t count.

Malik was in motion and I think that if you studied that in slow motion, you might find that it did not travel away from the net, but Maliks skate traveled forward of an almost stopped puck. I haven’t watched the video since they showed it several times on After Hours, but that was my immediate impression as soon as Hrudey started whining.

Well explained, although Hrudey is not a Leafs fan from any indication I’ve seen…he’s just being ‘pro-goalie’
