This whole business of Umberger going up and down between Flyers and Phantoms is very silly but at least in his case he doesn’t have to fly between cities to practice with the other squad. In fact the Phantoms and Flyers share a practice facility, Flyers in rink 1 and Phantoms in rink 2, and the practices are about an hour apart in starting time. So all Umberger has to do is show up for the Flyers practice and if they want to make him a Phantom for the day, the worst inconvenience for him is that he showed up an hour early.

As for Krispy, you and I both know why he was taken with the fourth pick in the 1999 draft.

One good season != automagically worthy of fourth overall pick and immediate entree into the NHL.

What happened is that he did just well enough to get a yob, and then took a holiday. It’s a pattern that’s repeated itself on team after team after team.

As for Krispy, you and I both know why he was taken with the fourth pick in the 1999 draft. I’ve ranted about this before, but to recap….

In 68 games with the Calgary Hitmen in 1999, Krispy tallied 134 points on 73 goals and 61 assists. That’s an average of 1.97 points per game. He also had 46 points (21/25) in 20 playoff games.

The question isn’t why was he taken with the fourth pick. The question is What happened???

Check him out, though.. Four goals and four assists for eight points in 10 games so far at Lowell.
